WILDERNESS SURVIVAL DINNER GAME

How the game works:

Groups of approx. 3 scouts and 1 older scout (Shadow) will travel out with a piece of paper containing the location of their food using landmark clues.  Such as, “Near the old man’s fork is where I hide my roots.”  And that would translate into meaning, find a tree with a fork and you will find a potato.

At the beginning of the game, the PLC will divide the troop up into the groups of which the number of scouts per group will be determined at the campout when we know how many scouts will be there.  The scouts in the group do not have to be from the same patrol.  Although by the time that we are finished, there should be 5 groups,  4 youth groups and an adult group.  Once the groups have been established, they will be sent out with their list of hints.  Now, there is one simple rule:  NO TALKING.  The group will have to manage to find all of their food without uttering a single word.  To make sure that this happens, there will be a shadow with each group (An older scout).  The first group that successfully finishes will return to camp and will blow their whistle.  That group will receive a big bag of candy.  When everybody hears that whistle, that will be their cue to return back to camp and dump off all the food that they have found.  The shadows will then go back out and find the rest of the food and bring it back.  The food will then be divvied up so that each patrol has the same amount of food.  The group that returned with the least amount of food will be responsible for making the fire that the whole troop will use to cook their foil dinners on.

Things that will be hidden:

v      Oreos

v      Potatoes

v      (1) Bottle of water from each person

v      Carrots

v      Onion

v      Oranges

v      Foil (Already cut in pieces)

v      Rolls of paper towels (Precut)

The only thing else that won’t be hidden but will be eaten is the JTM’s.
